Sites and Blogs on the Chinese Environment

September 3, 2010 § 1 Comment

English-language coverage of China’s environment is pretty sparse.  Sure, the major papers cover the heart-wrenching landslides, the massive population dislocations, and the huge role China’s CO2 emissions play in global climate change.  But, far too much is left uncovered by the major media.

The sites below offer a more generous, more nuanced, treatment of the broad range of China’s contemporary environmental concerns.

China Dialogue

China Environment Forum

China Environmental News Alert (aggregator of news about China’s environment)

China Green News: Translated Articles from the Chinese Press

The Daily Planet: The China Dialogue Editors’ Blog

Greenlaw blog

Greenpeace China Press Centre

Grist (China)

Yale Environment 360

A few sites that don’t specialize in the environment but frequently run relevant articles:

Caixin online (environment)

China Law Blog

China RealTime Report

Guardian UK (China) (especially articles by Jonathan Watt)

New York Times (China)

Sites that deal very little with the environment but provide news, information, commentary, and stories of interest that enable us to make better sense of China’s environmental issues today:

The China Beat

China Digital Times

China Geeks

China Hearsay

McClatchy blog: China Rises

Please add in your comments environmental blogs and sites you find useful.
